In this blog you can find some of the animals that are for adoption in the Lagos area. Some from the municipal kennel, others that are at the guard of animal associations and still some others who are being taken care by kind families on temporary basis. Without any help from the Government, animal associations are overbooked and many of them don't have any sort of animal accommodation and need to rely on temporary caring families/homes. Thus, the help given by these associations depends on private donations and on the help from people of good will. For each adopted animal, there will be a chance for another endangered animal to be helped and cared for. However, these adoptions have to be performed in a responsible manner, that is, new owners have to make sure that animals will not procreate. Like this, you will not only take home a new companion, but will also be saving his life and the lives of many more who will follow. You will become a Life Saver!
For the well-being and happiness of animals.
Let's stop animal suffering!
We rely on the good will and support of people like you. If you can help our project in any way, or have some free time, please consider :
Becoming a member or a volunteer;
Making a donation in money or in goods: Food (dogs and cats), powder milk for liitle puppies and kittens, medical supplies, anti flea products, dog beds and carrying baskets, dogs and cats traps (used for picking up strays for neutering), shelters for dogs or cats, blankets, eating bowls, collars and leads, grooming products, cats litter, toys, cleaning products, etc.;
Sponsoring a dog or a cat - choose one of the animals from the blogue and help covering his/her expenses;
Adopting one of our animals either temporarily (until a definite tutor is found) or for good. Our association will contribute with the financial costs in case of temporary families.
If you already have a pet, there are other ways in which you can contribute for the general well-being of animals:
Spay or neuter your pet - Spaying or neutering one's pet is an important decision for pet owners. As animal lovers who value our pets, it is important to understand the impact of this decision. Animal shelters, both public and private, unfortunately are faced with an incredible burden: What to do with the overpopulation of dogs and cats that they cannot find homes for. More and more animals are euthanized at public kennels, due to the sheer fact that there are not enough homes. Having your pet neutered ensures that you will not be adding to this tremendous burden. Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for dogs and cats. The deaths of so many pets are a needless tragedy. By spaying and neutering your pet, you can be an important part of the solution. Contact your veterinarian or a local association and inquire about the possibilities of receiving financial help to spay or neuter your pet.
Don't buy pets - The practice of selling animals from pet shops promotes impulse buying and irresponsible breeding for profit. Please help us to stop it. We already have far too many dogs and cats without homes. Adoption is the loving option. Consider adoption before buying a dog from a dog breeder or pet store. You will be saving a life and your pet will be forever grateful to you. And by adopting a stray animal, without any special traits, you will be showing your truly beautiful nature!
